We filed a brief defending Trump's First Amendment rights in a D.C. Circuit case against an unconstitutional gag order. This order restricts him from targeting the Special Counsel, witnesses, or their testimony. It hampers his political speech and accountability during his campaign. We oppose the Biden administration's misuse of power to silence political opponents. America First Legal stands with Trump's right to free speech.

America First Legal Files Brief Defending Donald J. Trump’s First Amendment Rights in D.C. Circuit Case Involving Unconstitutional Gag Order WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) filed a brief defending Donald J. /2 This case arises from an unprecedented gag order issued by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s politically-motivated prosecution of Former President Trump in Washington, D.C.

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/3 The gag order prevents the President from making public statements that target the Special Counsel or his staff, public statements that target any reasonably foreseeable witnesses or the substance of their testimony, and directing others to make any public statements about either of those two categories.

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/4 This absurd gag order is just another example of the Biden administration unjustly using its power to silence its political opponents and to attempt to prevent President Trump from speaking. AFL’s brief highlights two critical issues for the court: https://t.co/smgkUVgGzt

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/5 As AFL’s brief highlights, the Biden Administration has authorized the appointment of, and an indictment by, a Special Counsel. That indictment charges President Biden’s principal political rival and likely general-election opponent, Donald J. Trump, with multiple federal crimes.

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/6 The gag order sharply curtails President Trump’s ability to engage in core political speech and political association, thereby limiting his ability to keep both the Special Counsel and the President “accountable . . . to his country in his political character.”

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/7 That political accountability—like the First Amendment’s protections—“has its fullest and most urgent application . . . during a campaign for political office.” Citizens United v. FEC, 558 U.S. 310, 339 (2010).

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/8 And the gag order prevents President Trump from engaging in that core political speech despite his campaign for political office.

@America1stLegal - America First Legal

/9 America First Legal is proud to support President Trump’s right to free speech and will continue to be vocal against the Biden Administration’s weaponization of the Department of Justice and the federal government at large.

Speaker 0: Was billed as the fight of the century before he faced off against Smoke and Joe Frazier. The great Muhammad Ali said, I want 15 referees to be at this fight because there ain't no one man who can keep up with the pace I'm gonna set except me. It's fight night in Washington. Trump stepping back on the debate stage, and Democrats already smell trouble. Speaker 1: President Biden versus Donald Trump is gonna be must see. See. See. So this is like a real live freestyle battle. Good luck, president Joe Biden. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the Good luck. Biden's not gonna be able to keep up. Speaker 0: Yeah. That's interesting. Speaker 1: It's it's it's gonna be listen. I don't know. Maybe it won't be bad. Maybe they got some new they've been working on, some super serum. Speaker 0: Yeah. You Speaker 1: know what I mean? They're gonna shoot It's it's gonna be bad. It's gonna be bad. Donald Trump is dangerous because he's funny. Yeah. Yeah. He's dangerous because he's funny. Yeah. He's gonna give us one of the greatest stand up specials we've ever seen. Speaker 0: The refs sense danger too. We're 3 days from the CNN presidential debate, and the network's already proving it won't be a fair fight. Speaker 2: What do you expect, from Joe Biden? Well, first of all, it it's so it takes someone 5 minutes to Google Jake Tapper, Donald Trump, to see that Jake Tapper has Ma'am, continue to stop this interview if they're gonna keep the election in my call. Filter. Ma'am, I'm gonna stop this interview if you continue to attack my colleagues. I would like to talk about Speaker 3: Joe Biden Speaker 2: and Donald Trump who you work for. Yes. Speaker 1: If you Speaker 2: are here to speak on his behalf, I will be Speaker 1: able to Speaker 2: have this conversation. I am stating facts that your colleagues have stated in the past. Now as soon as Speaker 1: this is case. Speaker 2: We're gonna come back out to the panel. Caroline, thank you very much for your time. You are welcome to come back at any point. Speaker 0: CNN cuts your mic for saying Google Jake Tapper. CNN just slapped a gag order on the Trump campaign days before the debate. We knew Trump's mic would be muted during the debate, but we didn't know his campaign's mic would be muted before it. You can go on CNN and lie about Trump Russia, call Republicans racist Nazis, but you can't say Tapper's biased. If Jake's not biased, why is he celebrating Trump losing? Speaker 4: There's also been a time, of extreme divisions. Many of the divisions caused and exacerbated by president Trump himself. The unwillingness to respect facts and science and do everything that could be done to save lives during a pandemic. But now the Trump presidency is coming to an end to an end. For tens of millions of our fellow Americans, their long national nightmare is Speaker 0: We know what's in corner CNN's in. They're gagging the Trump campaign and giving Biden pointers. Speaker 1: For president Biden, one more piece of advice because this is still a physical, visual medium. Right? He's kinda got resting old face. Right? So you need him to point that out. I've learned it so much. It bars him down. Resting old face. And so he needs to smile. And when he smiles, it goes away a little bit. Because when he smiles, his face come to life. I would just say if they're practicing this, practice smiling. You Speaker 2: basically just said smile more. Speaker 1: I did. You would. 80 year old Speaker 0: at Camp David practicing standing for 90 minutes and working on his resting old face. NBC News says his team's been meticulously studying Trump in an effort to best identify what might get under his skin. Biden's goal Thursday is to make Trump snap. He'll be fighting dirty. Every shot will be below the belt. You're a twice impeached, bigoted, bankrupted, convicted felon. Trump's muted when Biden's trashing him, so he needs to compose himself, say, namaste. And when Biden's time is up, react calmly. Don't take debate because Biden's gonna make the debate all about Trump because Joe doesn't have a record to run on. Trump needs to make the debate all about the American people. Joe's trying to lock me up instead of the illegals raping and murdering our women and children. I never went bankrupt. Bidenomics is bankrupting our country like that. The Biden camp's feeling the pressure. Politico says there's feelings of disappointment and depression with Biden's biggest fundraisers who watch their cash advantage just vanish. Thursday's make or break for the Joe Biden legacy. If he falls flat on his face, both figuratively and literally, it's a green light for the Democrat switcheroo in Chicago. So Democrats are promising a juiced up Joe. Speaker 3: Biden is taking this very seriously, and, I'll tell you, you're gonna see a very energized president Biden who is looking forward to having these direct conversations with Donald Trump on on Thursday night in Atlanta. Speaker 0: Trump knows Joe's not gonna come really that sleepy. Speaker 5: So tonight, we'll refer to him as sleepy Joe. Because right now, as you know, it's been reported that right now Crooked Joe has gone to a locked cabin to study, prepare. No. He didn't he's sleeping now because they wanna get him good and strong. So a little before debate time, he gets a shot in the ass. Speaker 0: Well, Biden mocked debate Trump impersonators for a week with 16 advisers in the woods, Trump's campaigning on Democrats' home turf, Philly, and asking the crowd what they wanna see. Speaker 5: How should I handle him? Should I be tough and nasty? Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 5: Or should I be should I be she say no. Should I be tough and nasty and just say you're the worst president in history? Or should I be nice and calm and let him speak? Speaker 0: Prime time votes for calm. The base is already fired up. We don't need any more nicknames and insults. We need this is my 4 years. This was Biden's 4 years in a relaxed, specific, and charming manner. We're not saying Trump shouldn't be colorful. Speaker 5: Even I won't buy bacon anymore. It's too expensive. I said I'd love to have some lovely bacon, darling. And she said, no. I'm sorry. It's too expensive. Speaker 0: Bacon's a great way to tell a story about inflation. Lake and Riley is a way to tell a story about illegal immigration. 1,000,000,000 of dollars for 7 car chargers, there's your story about energy. Trump's been at the bodegas, the Chick Fil A's construction sites, the freezing cold courtrooms, the border. He's personally experienced the Biden presidency. Joe hides from it. You know how much Biden loves going to Philly? It's like the only place he campaigns besides Delaware. Biden hasn't gone to Philly for a cheese steak in 14 years. That cheesesteak he's chowing down on probably cost a dollar 50 back then. Trump was at Tonya next Saturday. Speaker 5: These are my people. Let me tell you, these people built America. You know that? These people built America. Speaker 0: 45 even left a $500 tip. Speaker 5: No tax. Okay. You ready? Speaker 1: We are ready. I'm ready Speaker 5: to give you $500. You guys all split it Speaker 1: up. Thank you. Alright. Great things Speaker 5: happen in Philadelphia. Let's go. Speaker 0: And just like the Bronx and Atlanta, Trump went behind the blue wall and was showered with love. Speaker 5: I'm saying the people need hope. I go out. I see the greatest people. So we're in the middle of a pretty rough area, and it's a love fest. You see that. It's incredible. They want hope. They want to have they want to have a future. Listen to the people. And these are not people that would normally be going wild. It's been amazing.

In the midterms, a discussion arose about a caravan of migrants from Central America. One party characterized it as an invasion, while the other disagreed, emphasizing the need for legal immigration processes. The president insisted on the necessity of immigrants for economic growth, despite the caravan being far from the border. Tensions escalated when questions about the Russia investigation were raised, with the president dismissing them as a hoax. The president criticized a CNN reporter for being rude and unprofessional, claiming CNN spreads fake news and labeling them as the enemy of the people. Another reporter defended the first, but the president continued to express his disdain for the media's portrayal of his administration and the fearmongering surrounding Democrats and crime.

I believe the recent actions by President Trump regarding immigration funding are pivotal. He signed an executive order halting refugee admissions and directed the State Department to stop funding NGOs involved in refugee resettlement. These organizations, heavily reliant on taxpayer money, have been accused of undermining U.S. immigration laws. Many operate almost entirely on federal grants, facilitating the immigration process and providing financial support to migrants. This shift in funding represents a significant change in the immigration landscape, which I see as a major victory against these NGOs.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

This is arguably the single most important aspect of Trump's funding freeze. The immigration crisis isn't an accident. It's a well-oiled system, facilitated by powerful NGOs—and funded by your tax dollars. By defunding the NGOs, Trump is crippling the entire system. 🧵 https://t.co/OJs1GN0O3y

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Here's what just happened: Last week, President Trump signed an executive order suspending refugee admissions into the U.S. Then, the State Department went a step further—they issued a "stop-work" order to their NGO "partners," suspending all funding for refugee resettlement. https://t.co/TU6TgRTEzO

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

The NGOs were beside themselves. And for good reason—very few of these groups are self-sufficient. Most of them are sustained by the federal tax-dollar gravy train. The immigration crisis is being financed by your government—with your money. Hence, their outraged statements: https://t.co/KfxDJMtwg1

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

To be clear, these NGOs exist to subvert U.S. immigration law at every step of the process—actively transporting migrants into the country, fighting enforcement efforts at the border, resettling migrants in American towns and cities, and lobbying for open border policies in D.C. https://t.co/ZYMjlIcDMq

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

And again, they've been doing it on your dime. For the past four years, The Biden State Department has been mainlining taxpayer funds to groups that run an end-to-end mass migration network, beginning deep in South America and finishing with resettlement in American communities. https://t.co/UuZqmEZhoP

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

They provide "humanitarian transportation" to ferry immigrants up to our border, waypoints with shelter and medical services along the way, Spanish-language maps showing the best route to the U.S., and legal services for immigrants to beat our immigration laws once they get here. https://t.co/ZfuKr7gAIn

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Oh, and money. They just give them cash cards, vouchers, and often even just stacks of cash in envelopes. Tough to think of a more direct 1:1 redistribution: You pay your taxes. Your government sends that money to the NGOs. The NGOs hand it to immigrants. You work, they benefit. https://t.co/NsnIyYziPP

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Ten of these major immigration NGOs—known as VOLAGS ("Voluntary Agencies")—have contracts with the State Department's Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), which provides them with the funding to resettle migrants in the U.S. These are the ten VOLAGS in question: https://t.co/43lGcF7hEs

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Most of these groups are only able to operate because of the federal government. Take the USCCB: In 2023, they received $129.6M in federal grants for migration services. They spent $130.5M on migration services. Their immigration activities are almost 100% taxpayer-funded. https://t.co/dAgiXcgFxs

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Or take the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. (Which, unlike the USCCB as an overall organization, is exclusively focused on immigration). In FY 2023, 96.65% of their revenue came from federal grants and contracts, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. https://t.co/q30J9qkzah

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

Or take the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society—a group that we made an entire video about last year. (See below). Biden DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas served on their board until taking a job in the Biden admin. Surprise, surprise—after he took office, their funding skyrocketed. https://t.co/7hwpgZps7S

@America_2100 - America 2100

Alejandro Mayorkas is fully in bed with the open borders lobby. Until 2020, he served on the board of HIAS — a radical left-wing group that is actively ferrying illegals into America. He was never serious about border security. The Senate must impeach. https://t.co/yTlpQYHeAQ https://t.co/w36fGap0NX

Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, is facing impeachment due to his role in the ongoing border crisis. His connection to open borders began before his current position; he served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), which advocates for open immigration policies. The Biden administration has deep ties to various NGOs that facilitate immigration, including HIAS, which provides resources for immigrants and lobbies for amnesty. HIAS, founded in 1881, has shifted its focus to assist all refugees, receiving significant funding from government grants, including from DHS. Critics argue that these policies contribute to a crisis marked by increased crime and suffering at the border, contradicting the idealistic vision of immigration policy.

Speaker 0: Alejandro Mayorkas is the chief architect of the American border crisis. Right now, the house is trying for the second time to impeach Biden DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The yeas are 214 and the nays are 213. The resolution is adopted. You've seen the videos of the crisis at our southern border. You've read the tragic stories of the Americans who have been killed by the drugs and crime pouring into our country. You may have even read about the ways in which Mayorkas' policies at the Department of Homeland Security have facilitated this disaster. But what you might not know is that Mayorkas' role in our open borders crisis started years before he joined the Biden administration. Prior to his current position as the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Mayorkas served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society or HIAS. The organization is part of a sprawling coalition of NGOs, activist groups, and nonprofits hailing from a wide range of both religious and secular backgrounds that partner with both United Nations and the US government to push for open borders. The Biden administration's connections to this network run deep, well beyond Mayorkas and HIAS. Robin Marcos, the Director of Biden's Office of Refugee Resettlement, previously served as the Senior Director of Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration Programming for the International Rescue Committee, a powerful NGO that helps to aid and coordinate the flow of immigration up to the US border. Katie Tobin, who served as a senior border advisor on Biden's National Security Council, previously worked for Annunciation House, a major Catholic immigration nonprofit which is currently being sued by the state of Texas for helping to facilitate illegal immigration. Mayorkas joined the board of HIAS in 2020. HIAS bills itself as the world's oldest refugee agency. The group was founded in 18/81 and was originally dedicated to aiding and advocating for Jewish refugees fleeing persecution in Russia and Eastern Europe. Over the past few decades, however, the group's focus has expanded to include all refugees of every religious and national background. The group's leaders see themselves as humanitarians who help to provide vital services to refugees and asylum seekers around the world. HIAS, welcome the stranger. Protect the refugee. But in practice, HIAS and groups like it play a critical role in our open borders crisis. At the government level, HIAS regularly lobbies for open borders, amnesty, and uncontrolled immigration. On the ground, the group actively facilitates the ongoing invasion with everything from cash cards and vouchers for immigrants arriving at our border to Spanish language maps showing immigrants how to get here to providing tents, shelter, and legal and medical services for immigrants to use during their journey up to the US border. Once they've made it into America, HIAS helps to resettle them in communities across the country. All of this is funded by your tax dollars. HIAS had an operating budget of more than $162,000,000 in 2022. Nearly half of its funding came from government grants, including from Mayorkas' DHS. Millions of tax dollars in those government grants were explicitly earmarked for the group's efforts to fund and support immigration from South America. Since Biden took office, the number of tax dollars hold a utopian vision of immigration policy. A world without borders. But in the real world, their policies do not lead to utopia. They lead to death, destruction, and misery. The crisis at our border is living proof. For more stories like this, follow America 21100.

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

If you're looking for the villain at the center of the immigration crisis, it's these guys. The refugee NGOs are a fifth column in American politics. And they've essentially been acting as an extension of the federal government. But not anymore. This is a big, big win.

You can check out my deep-dive thread on mass deportations from earlier this month here:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

In 1954, 750 Border Patrol agents deported 1.1 million illegals in the space of a few months. Today, we have 21,000 Border Patrol agents—and far more advanced technology. Mass deportations are reasonable, necessary and possible. We've done it before—and we can do it again. 🧵 https://t.co/K2QrzqTajp

And yesterday’s thread on how the “online right” won:

@njhochman - Nate Hochman

For years, we were told that "the internet isn't real life." But in this election, it was. Online influencers, issues and ideas played a major role in the 2024 election—especially on the right. Today's right is more "online" than the left—and that's part of why it's winning. 🧵 https://t.co/jxzosG8XOb

I can't believe how biased the media is. NPR "fact-checked" Trump's claim about saving stranded astronauts, saying they're not stranded, despite major outlets calling them "stranded" months ago. It feels like anything Trump says is instantly labeled as wrong. Despicable.

🚨 HOLY SHLIT. You can't hate the media ENOUGH. NPR has "fact checked" Trump's mission to save the stranded astronauts by claiming "they're not stranded." Yet, MONTHS ago, virtually every major media outlet (CNN, PBS, et al) *literally* called them "STRANDED." As soon as Trump says something, it has to be wrong, though. Despicable.

Speaker 0: Which White House official made the decision to bar the AP reporter from the Oval Office and the Diplomatic Reception Room last night? Speaker 1: Well, first of all, let me just set the record straight. It is a privilege to cover this White House. It's a privilege to be the White House press secretary. And nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask the president of The United States questions. That's an invitation that is given, and there are hundreds of outlets on this campus. Many of you in this room who don't have the privilege of being part of that pool every single day and getting to ask the president questions. We reserve the right, to decide who gets to go into the Oval Office, and you all have credentials to be here including the Associated Press who is in this briefing room today. Speaker 0: Retaliatory in nature, is is the argument because the reason that the AP was barred, which they said was because they're not using the phrase Gulf Of America. They're using Gulf Of Mexico in line with their standards. And so the question here is, is this setting a precedent that this White House will retaliate against reporters who don't use the language that you guys believe reporter should use. Speaker 1: And how does that align with Speaker 0: the First Amendment commitment that you were just talking about? Speaker 1: I was very upfront in my briefing on day one, that if we feel that there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable. And it is a fact that the body of water off the coast of Louisiana is called the Gulf Of America. And I'm not sure why news outlets don't want to call it that, but that is what it is. The secretary of interior has made that the official designation in the, geographical identification name server. And Apple has recognized that. Google has recognized that. Pretty much every other outlet in this room has recognized that body of water as the Gulf Of America, and it's very important to this administration that we get that right. Speaker 0: But isn't it retaliatory in nature? Is is the argument because the reason that the AP was barred, which they said was because they're not using the phrase Gulf Of America. They're using Gulf Of Mexico in line with their standards. And so the question here is, is this setting a precedent that this White House will retaliate against reporters who don't use the language that you guys believe reporters should use? And how Speaker 1: does that align with the Speaker 0: first amendment commitment that you were just talking about? Speaker 1: I was very upfront in my briefing on day one, that if we feel that there are lies being pushed by outlets in this room, we are going to hold those lies accountable. And it is a fact that the body of water off the coast of Louisiana is called the Gulf Of America. And I'm not sure why news outlets don't want to call it that, but that is what it is. The secretary of interior has made that the official designation in the, geographical identification name server. And Apple has recognized that. Google has recognized that. Pretty much every other outlet in this room has recognized that body of water as the Gulf Of America and it's very important to this administration that we get that right. Not just for people here at home but also for the rest of the world. Sure.

Yesterday, Donald Trump banned the Associated Press from the White House because it declines to call the Gulf Of Mexico the Gulf Of America. This is press censorship based on viewpoint discrimination. During Trump's presidency, the DOD kicked out news groups from the Pentagon that asked skeptical questions, including the New York Times, NBC News, and the Washington Post. These organizations were replaced by outlets willing to advance the party line of the states, like Breitbart and One American News Network.

This is straight up press censorship based on retaliatory viewpoint discrimination. Trump's DOD kicked out eight news groups that had space in the Pentagon, but which asked skeptical questions of the new secretary, including the New York Times, NBC News, and the Washington Post, all ousted in favor of outlets willing to faithfully advance the party line of the states, like Breitbart and one American News Network.

The conversation critiques the media's portrayal of USAID following its funding cuts by Trump and Elon Musk. One participant argues that coverage focuses on the agency's perceived importance while ignoring questionable expenditures, such as funding gender studies in conservative countries and unproductive infrastructure projects. They suggest that the media's emotional response indicates a lack of awareness about USAID's operations, implying that if an organization collapses without government funding, it was not a genuine charity but rather a flawed system.

@WallStreetMav - Wall Street Mav

I just reviewed news on the word "USAID". It is all stories about how horrible it is that Trump and Elon shut it down. There are ZERO stories about the crazy items that USAID was spending money on. They are trying to create a fake narrative to that USAID was an awesome agency and Trump is horrible for stopping the flow of money.

It’s almost like we weren’t supposed to notice that USAID was: 💰 Dropping millions on gender studies in countries that still stone women. 💰 Funding “infrastructure projects” where nothing ever got built. 💰 Paying for D.C. cocktail parties instead of actual aid. The media is clutching its pearls like USAID was a holy temple, when in reality it was just a government ATM with no withdrawal limits. The funniest part? Nobody outside of Washington even knew what USAID did until Trump shut it down. Now suddenly, half of X is acting like they’ve been volunteering there every weekend since birth. Here’s a thought: If your “charity” dies the second the free government money stops flowing, it wasn’t a charity—it was a money-laundering Ponzi scheme. I noticed that 60 Minutes featured two communications consultants as if they were long-time USAID employees who were dismissed for disloyalty. This misrepresentation contrasts sharply with Kristina Drye's account of the sudden loss of job security due to the USAID shutdown. Additionally, there seems to be a troubling narrative around free speech, with some claiming that the Holocaust was a result of it, while denying reporters access to the Oval Office is seen as an attack on the First Amendment. It's a confusing time in political media.

I’m calling on the media to unite and boycott the Trump administration after the White House banned the Associated Press. It’s crucial for news outlets to support the AP by writing op-eds and standing with them in court. If necessary, we should refuse to cover presidential events in solidarity until Trump reverses this decision. The power of the press should not be undermined.

NEW: Former CNN host Jim Acosta is calling on the media to come together and boycott the Trump administration. The call comes in response to the White House's decision to ban the Associated Press. "News outlets then must rally to the cause, by offering supportive statements to the court hearing the case, writing op-Ed’s backing the AP, and, if necessary, refusing to cover presidential movements in solidarity, until Trump backs down," Acosta said on Substack. The conversation begins with a user criticizing a political figure for allegedly using executive power to punish a law firm representing his opponents, labeling him as unstable and a fascist. Another user responds by noting that similar actions occurred during the Obama administration, albeit more covertly. They argue that it is acceptable for the government to avoid working with firms whose advocacy conflicts with its interests, emphasizing that lawyers and clients choose each other based on their positions, and the government should not engage with firms that breach professional ethics.

No one called Obama a fascist, yet his administration persued similar goals, but in more insidious ways. This is only news because (1) Trump, and (2) he's actually being upfront and public about it, instead of secretive and manipulative. It's perfectly fine, actually, for the USG to decide they don't want to do business with a firm because of that firm's advocacy positions that are in conflict with the USG's. We don't have the cab-rank rule in the US; lawyers choose their clients, and clients their lawyers, specifically for their advocacy positions. I believe President Trump should be commended for taking action against law firms that misuse government power. It's interesting that Bill Maher and HBO chose Davis Wright Tremaine, an anti-Trump firm, to represent them in my defamation lawsuit. Just days before my deposition, Maher visited the White House to seek favor with Trump, despite his public attacks on him. HBO seems to want to profit from Maher's dinner with Trump while funding a firm that opposes him. I think Davis Wright Tremaine should be held accountable for their unethical practices.

@LauraLoomer - Laura Loomer

President Trump deserves to be applauded for his actions against law firms that participate in weaponization of government. There is a reason why Bill Maher @billmaher and @HBO chose DAVIS WRIGHT TREMAINE to represent them in the defamation lawsuit I filed against them. They went out of their way to choose an anti-Trump law firm. Then, days before my deposition of Bill Maher, Maher went to the White House to grovel to President Trump, as he reiterated last night during his show. So he bashes Trump, falsely accused him of committing adultery, and attacked the Trump family, and then HBO wants to monetize the episode about Maher’s dinner with Trump while they are paying an openly anti-Trump law firm? Seriously?!? Cc: @realDonaldTrump Davis Wright Tremaine needs to be held accountable ASAP. Their lawyers are some of the most unethical people practicing law, in my opinion.

@LauraLoomer - Laura Loomer

So many conservatives are bending over backwards to compliment rabid Trump hater Bill Maher @billmaher. Meanwhile, Maher is complicit in the lawfare machine against President Trump and his admin. He has been cheering on Trump hatred for years, and now, Maher wants to rewrite history. Anyone who is praising Bill Maher needs to be called out given the fact that Maher has anti-Trump legal representation. I met Bill Maher last week, when my lawyer and I deposed him on video in Beverly Hills. As many of you know, I have filed a $150 Million Defamation lawsuit against Bill Maher and HBO after Maher falsely accused me of having sex with President Trump last September when President Trump invited me as his guest to the Presidential debate. Who is representing Maher and @HBO in this legal matter? An anti-Trump law firm called Davis Wright Tremaine. @DWTLaw The law firm Davis Wright Tremaine has been hard at work "defending" those who have tried to destroy President Trump, his family, me and anyone who stands up to the left and their vile, fake news propaganda. The firm advertises, as you can see in this article, that it is anti-Trump and anti-conservative. They proudly promoted on their website that they are “Trump’s Least Favorite Firm” in a @THR Hollywood Reporter spread in 2019. Among the many Leftists and Trump haters DWT has represented is George Stephanopulos and ABC @ABC @ThisWeekABC in a defamation case filed by President Trump over a false accusation of RAPE. Ultimately, they settled with President Trump for $15 MILLION in December 2024. This further demonstrates how depraved Davis Wright Tremaine is as a firm. They defend people who make defamatory remarks for the sake of destroying our country and emboldening communists in the media. They tried to destroy President Trump’s reputation and his marriage by defending a Fake News puppet who accused Trump of being a RAPIST. Now, Davis Wright Tremaine is up against me and my lawyer Larry Klayman @LarryEKlayman in a defamation case I filed against Bill Maher and HBO. They want to defend Maher from facing consequences for falsely accusing me of having sex with Donald Trump, which was an attempt to destroy my reputation, as well as President Trump’s marriage with @MELANIATRUMP The lawyers from Davis Wright Tremaine need to be held accountable in the same way others like their friends over at Perkins Coie have been. This month, DWT signed a brief DENOUNCING President Trump and his efforts to crack down on law firms that participate in the Weaponization of Government. They went out of their way to defend the anti-Trump, radical Leftist firm PERKINS COIE. Hopefully, President @realDonaldTrump takes action against Davis Wright Tremaine. They need to be held accountable for their egregious behavior. They should be sanctioned and should be the subject of an Executive Memorandum. If Davis Wright Tremaine wants to proudly be anti-Trump, let them embrace the consequences that come with that title and their behavior. Receipts 👇🏻 @POTUS @JDVance @BorisEP

It's hard to overstate the significance of recent changes regarding free speech. For years, the State Department engaged in a global censorship operation, targeting not just foreign propaganda but also American voices. This censorship, often disguised as combating "disinformation," has threatened Western freedom. My legal battle against the Biden administration revealed extensive ties between government agencies and third-party censors. Now, with a supportive administration, we are dismantling this censorship enterprise, marking a crucial victory for free speech, especially online.

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

It's hard to overstate how big this is. For years, the State Department ran a global censorship operation—not just in America, but across the West. Now, it's pushing free speech instead. Here's why this matters. 🧵

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

The "disinformation" and "hate speech" industry is one of the top threats to Western freedom today. "From its very beginnings," @SecRubio writes, this industry "has existed to protect the American establishment from the voices of forgotten Americans."

@SecRubio - Secretary Marco Rubio

Over the past half decade, our own governing ruling class nearly destroyed America's long free speech history. Today, we are putting that to an end. https://thefederalist.com/2025/04/16/rubio-to-protect-free-speech-the-censorship-industrial-complex-must-be-dismantled/

Rubio: To Protect Free Speech, The Censorship Complex Must Die No matter what name it goes by, the Global Engagement Center is dead. It will not return. thefederalist.com

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

As Attorney General of Missouri, I sued the Biden admin for working with Big Tech to censor conservatives. We took them all the way to the Supreme Court. That case—Missouri v. Biden—led to the release of thousands of pages of documents detailing a vast censorship enterprise. https://t.co/YffN43srog

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

Piece by piece, we uncovered exactly how this system worked. Under Biden, government agencies funded an army of third-party censors and "disinformation" groups to do what they couldn't legally do themselves—censor American speech. More details here: https://t.co/vNDBYyAo8r

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

The Left spent the past decade building a vast censorship enterprise. A shadowy network of NGOs, tech groups and governments working to censor the Left's enemies—not just in America, but across the West. Over the next four years, the GOP must expose + dismantle this system. 🧵 https://t.co/XH2EkdGaoM

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

One of the nerve centers of this censorship machine was the State Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC). Founded under Obama, the GEC was originally billed as a way to combat FOREIGN propaganda. But it began to target Americans—under the guise of fighting "disinformation." https://t.co/i8LTeUKzcB

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

And it wasn't just Americans. The GEC funded and worked with powerful NGOs pushing speech restrictions and creating advertiser blacklists—designed to crush conservative media—across the West. Your tax dollars were funding a global war against conservatives. As Rubio writes: https://t.co/1I03Q8VCks

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

These people were very good at burying their radicalism in neutral, harmless euphemisms—"disinformation," "information integrity," etc. But in practice, they were almost exclusively going after right-wing speech. This was an international effort to silence criticism of the Left.

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

For example: One GEC-funded group, the London-based Global Disinformation Index, compiled blacklists of media outlets to feed to advertisers—essentially a form of financial warfare against disfavored outlets. The top 10 outlets on its "disinformation" list were all on the right. https://t.co/sdjGwfu3dF

@Eric_Schmitt - Eric Schmitt

Last year, I led a fight in Congress to shutter the GEC for good. The agency was supposed to sunset at the end of 2024. But the Biden State Department simply renamed it, kept all the same employees, and tried to smuggle it into the next administration. https://t.co/Zfmi7fDTys

@SenEricSchmitt - Senator Eric Schmitt

The Global Engagement Center must be excluded from any subsequent piece of legislation for the remainder of the 118th Congress. The American people deserve to know their First Amendment rights are being protected. https://t.co/dxU8V5clAz

That's how the administrative state works. It morphs and adapts to protect itself. But now, those of us in Congress who pushed for these reforms have an administration that shares our goals. As Rubio writes today: "Whatever name it goes by, GEC is dead. It will not return." https://t.co/M0VsQrrfAN

This is a huge step in dismantling the Left's censorship enterprise. Free speech—and in particular, free speech online—is one of the major battlefields of our time. It's one of the fights that will define whether we win or lose on everything else. It's a big, big win.

I signed an executive order to cut federal funding for PBS and NPR. The order directs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other agencies to stop funding and eliminate indirect public financing for these organizations, which I believe promote radical, woke propaganda.

I just finished my deposition, which started at 10 am EST. Kate Bolger, the lawyer from the anti-Trump firm Davis Wright Tremaine, tried to intimidate me, but I remained committed to the truth. My lawyer, Larry Klayman, effectively defended me against her aggressive tactics. I appreciate all the support I've received, both in kind words and financial contributions to my legal fund, as this litigation will be costly. My goal is to hold Bill Maher and HBO accountable and protect others from similar politically motivated defamation.

I just got out of my deposition. I was there since 10 am EST. Kate Bolger, the lawyer from the anti-Trump law firm Davis Wright Tremaine @DWTLaw which has been hired by @billmaher and @HBO, attempted to BROW BEAT ME, but that did not deter me from telling the truth. My deposition went extremely well, and my lawyer @LarryEKlayman kept Bolger off my back despite how nasty she was to me. Thank you for your support. I appreciate everyone’s kind words and their financial support of my legal fund to cover the costs of what will continue to be very expensive litigation. https://www.givesendgo.com/LoomerLawfare This will not only teach @billmaher and @HBO a lesson, but it will also protect others who may be subjected to this same type of politically motivated defamation from the Left.

I am about to walk into my deposition for my DEFAMATION lawsuit against @billmaher and @HBO. I will be offline till my deposition is over. It’s absolutely OUTRAGEOUS that I have to use my very valuable time and resources to defend myself from sexist, misogynist and anti-Trump slurs made against me by one of the Left’s biggest Trump haters: Bill Maher. Everyone can see Maher’s long history and record of anti-Trump and low class tweets attacking @potus, his wife @MELANIATRUMP and his family. Bill Maher has in effect sexually harassed me in a vile, and very public manner which has severely harmed and damaged me and my reputation. He accused me of adultery and used me as a vehicle to attack President Trump during the 2024 Presidential election. Everybody knows I should be working in the White House, but Maher tried to Monica Lewinsky me and make me radioactive as I was traveling with President Trump and his campaign team simply because I am an effective investigative journalist, and a Jewish woman. Everyone knows Maher is an ATHEIST who hates women. He especially hates women who support and like President Trump. Who is representing Maher and @HBO in this legal matter? An anti-Trump law firm named Davis Wright Tremaine. @DWTLaw The law firm Davis Wright Tremaine has been hard at work "defending" those who have tried to destroy President Trump @realDonaldTrump, his family, me and anyone who stands up to the left and their vile, fake news propaganda. The firm advertises, as you can see in this article, that it is anti-Trump and anti-conservative. They proudly promoted on their website that they are “Trump’s Least Favorite Firm” in a @THR Hollywood Reporter spread in 2019, which they have since deleted from their website after I exposed this. My lawyer @LarryEKlayman has opposed DWT many times. They want to defend Maher from facing consequences for falsely accusing me of having sex with Donald Trump, which was an attempt to destroy my reputation, as well as President Trump’s marriage with @MELANIATRUMP In April, DWT signed a brief DENOUNCING President Trump and his efforts to crack down on radical Left law firms that participate in the Weaponization of Government. They went out of their way to defend the anti-Trump, radical Leftist firm PERKINS COIE. You can support my legal fund to pay for the costs of this litigation to hold Bill Maher and his enabler HBO legally accountable here. Thank you. 🙏 👇🏻 https://www.givesendgo.com/LoomerLawfare 👇🏻
